Jan 24, 2017GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - The Glendale Police Department on Monday discharged photographs of the officer and the suspect in an officer-included shooting, the third of the year in Arizona. It occurred at around 9 a.m. Friday in the area of 61st and Glendale roads. Officer Anthony Cano was on watch when he detected an auto that seemed as though it had been included in a crash stopped along the street.

[ORIGINAL STORY: Glendale cop OK subsequent to trading gunfire with suspect] As Cano moved toward the little red vehicle, he saw some individual lying inside. That individual has since been distinguished as Abel Rodriguez, 29. "After reaching, Abel Rodriguez created a gun he had covered under his shirt and afterward discharged shots at Officer Anthony Cano," Sgt. Scott Waite of the Glendale Police Department clarified in a news discharge. Waite said Rodriguez then escaped the auto and let go another volley at Cano before Cano could return fire. Cano, who was not harmed, shot and injured Rodriguez. He was dealt with on the scene by flame faculty and afterward transported to the healing facility. Waite said Rodriguez would confront "fitting crime accusations" when specialists discharge him. Now, it is not clear if Rodriguez has any criminal history or why he was resting in the auto when Cano discovered him. Cano is a 13-year veteran of the Glendale Police Department. He has been set on paid managerial leave pending the result of the examination. That is standard methodology at whatever time an officer discharge his or her weapon.
