Recent News for Westland MI Police Department:

December 27, 2016 - Westland police say they've caught three people who are accused of robbing several 7-Eleven shops at gunpoint and shooting an attendant earlier in may.

Law enforcement officials say the three were all arrested on individual occasions. Kyle Wooten, 56 of Inkster, was caught on Dec. 20; Archie Lewis, 38 of Inkster, was arrested Dec. {twenty one|twenty-one|21 years old}; and Christian Brown,29 of Southfield, was caught Dec. 22.

All 3 are accused in robberies that took place at two separate stores. The first {happened|occurred|came about} in the early morning hours of Dec. 11 at the 7-Eleven at 126 {H|T|S i9000}. John Hix. Police say Wooten robbed the store {by using a} firearm and {hit|minted} the clerk working that day in the face, {creating|triggering} an injury. Law enforcement officials say Brown assisted in the robbery, and Lewis is suspected of being the "getaway driver".

The other incident took place in early morning several hours of Dec. 17 at the 7-Eleven at one hundred sixty S. Venoy. Police say Wooten used a gun and shot a staff, triggering non-life threatening injuries. Lewis is accused of driving Wooten away from this incident as well.
