Washington State Penitentiary is located in the city of Walla Walla, Washington which has a population of 31,825 (as of 2013) residents. This prison has a capacity of 2493 inmates, which means this is the maximum amount of beds per facility. Washington State Penitentiary began processing inmates once the original construction was completed and service started in 1886 but may have been expanded or renovated since that time, to accommodate the growing prison population. Prisoners are housed in separate areas depending on the crimes they committed, their current risk assessment, and their behavior. This facility is currently under the supervision of Superintendent Donald R. Holbrook and houses male offenders.

Intensive Management Unit (IMU) 
North, South

Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Immediate family only. Visitation duration depends on an inmate's level.

Video Visiting Hours 

Per DOC Policy 450.300 – Attachment 1, Video Visiting, video visits will be scheduled in 30 minute increments and may not exceed one hour in duration. Hours posted represent the available check-in times for scheduled visits.

Professional Visits 

Professional visits may be scheduled through the Legal Liaison Officer (LLO).
