Recent News for Royse City Texas Police Department:

Jan 20, 2017 - Royse City police were proceeding with an examination Wednesday into a Tuesday morning shooting in the Briarstone Estates neighborhood that left two men dead. Executed in the shooting at 1400 Laurel Lane, as per police, were Travis Hicklin, 24, and his 42-year-old stepfather, James Stevens. Lt. Troy Eavenson of the police division said a decision is pending including whether the passings were an aftereffect of murder-suicide. Likewise, he stated, a rationale in the shooting is "obscure as of now." Police Chief Jeff Stapleton revealed Tuesday morning that a lady called 911 around 5:25 a.m. to report that two men had been shot inside the home. Stapleton said there was no confirmation of constrained passage into the habitation. He was asked whether it showed up the passings were the aftereffect of murder-suicide. "Perhaps, yes, we're taking a gander at everything at this moment," the police boss said while he was at the scene Tuesday morning. "We're not going to discount manslaughter, but rather we're taking a gander at either crime or murder-suicide." Stapleton said both men were occupants of the house. Two individuals were at home when the shooting happened – the lady who called 911 and a tyke. They were not hurt, Stapleton said. Eavenson, reacting to questions messaged to Stapleton by the Herald-Banner, said the female and an adolescent child were snoozing inside the home and did not hear shots. The police boss said in a Facebook post that the groups of both men were taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office. "This is an open examination, and we ask for protection for the family as of now," Stapleton said in the Facebook post.
