North Infirmary Command

North Infirmary Command on Rikers Island is located in the city of East Elmhurst , New York which has a population of 40,160 (as of 2014) residents. This medical facility has a capacity of 416 inmates, which means this is the maximum amount of beds available for treating prisoners. North Infirmary Command began treating inmates once the original construction was completed and service started in 1932 but may have been expanded or renovated since that time, to accommodate the growing prison population. Prisoners are housed in separate areas depending on the crimes they committed, their health assessment, and their behavior. This facility is currently under the supervision of Commissioner Joseph Ponte and houses male and female offenders.

-Max 3 visitors at one time, 3 visits per inmate per week
-Inmates limited to 1 visit session per day
