Polk County, Florida actually maintains two separate jail facilities: the Central County Jail Facility, which is located at 2390 Bob Phillips Road, Bartow, Florida, and the South County Jail Facility, which is located at 1103 U.S. Hwy. 98 West, Frostproof, Florida. The Central County Jail can be reached at 863-534-6123. It is supervised by Captain Darren Chambers. It was built in two stages in 1985 and 1988, and currently houses: adult male and female inmates, pre-adjudicated youth, direct-filed youth, and trustee inmates. The adult and youth populations are kept separate from one another. Inmates at the Central County Jail have access to educational services, life skills, substance abuse programming, and faith-based programming. The courtroom for first appearances is located at the jail, and visitors can watch first appearance proceedings from the lobby; bonding information is available after the first appearance. Visitation at the Central County Jail is by appointment during the hours: 7:30am to 10:30am; 12:00pm to 4:00pm; and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The South County Jail can be reached at 863-635-6920. It is supervised by Captain Tom Laurell. It was completed in 1999 and expanded in 2010. It is the largest facility in the Polk County Jail System. The current population includes adult male general population inmates, adult male Direct Supervision inmates, and adult male trustees. Inmates at the South Jail have access to family integrity training in addition to the services available at the Central County Jail facility. Visitation is first-come first-served from the hours 7:30am to 10:30am; 12:00pm to 4:00pm; and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. People with questions about visitation should contact them at 863-695-6826.

Polk County in Minnesota is a small county. In fact, it is does not have its own jail facility. Instead, Polk County inmates are held at the Tri-County Community Corrections Center, which services Norman, Polk, and Red Lake Counties. The Tri-County Community Corrections Center’s mailing address is: 816 Marin Avenue, Suite 110, Crookston, MN 56716. The phone number is 218-470-8100. The fax number is 218-470-8135. The Tri-County Community Corrections Center has two main facilities: the Northwest Regional Corrections Center, which houses adult offenders; and the Red River Valley Juvenile Center.

The Northwest Regional Corrections Center is supervised by Dave Casanova. It is a relatively small Class III facility that was designed to house up to 200 inmates. It is a direct supervision facility that can house inmates with a variety of needs, and even has a special management unit. The goal of a direct supervision facility is to actively manage inmate behavior before it can become problematic, increasing safety for inmates, staff, and visitors. The jail updates its jail roster on a daily basis. Visitation follows specific rules. Visiting Hours are Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Visits are 30 minutes in duration. Visits are limited to 2 adults or 1 adult and 2 small children; no visitor under 18 can visit unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

In addition to money, inmates can receive certain personal property including: socks, underwear, and prescription medication. Inmate deports can be made through kiosks located in the lobby, through money orders sent to inmates through the mail, and by depositing money online.

Polk County Jail, Iowa

The Polk County, Iowa jail facility is part of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The Polk County Sheriff is Bill McCarthy. Polk County uses two services to simplify the process of adding money to inmate accounts. To add money to an inmate’s general account, you can use the online Smart Deposit system. This money can be used for commissary purchases and to make phone calls. To deposit money directly to an inmate’s phone account, you may use the online Securus deposit system. Money deposited to an inmate’s phone account can only be used for phone calls.

All visits at the Polk County Jail are done through a video system. Visitors may visit remotely or they may come into the jail facility and use the terminals located in the jail’s visitation facility. All visitors must have active iWebVisit accounts before having a visitation, but may create those accounts at the On-Site Visiting Center. On-site visitation hours are: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-10:30am, and 1:00pm-2:30pm; and Sunday 8:30am-10:30am and 12:30pm-2:30pm. There is no on-site visitation on Friday and Saturday. Off-site visitation hours are Sunday-Saturday 8:30am-10:00pm, must be scheduled 24 hours in advance, and cost $11/ 30 minute visit, for standard visitors.
In Iowa, jails are allowed to collect room and board from inmates after a conviction. Room and board payments may be made in person at the jail or by mail.

Polk County Jail, Arkansas
