If you do not have the inmate’s AIS number, then you can search by first name or last name.   The first and last name search fields can be used separately or together to find inmate records.  However, if data is entered in both name fields, only records matching both fields will be shown, so if you are uncertain of the correct name or the correct spelling, only use one field.  You can also enter partial names in either field.

Before an inmate receives money from deposits, any money that the inmate owes, is deducted prior to the inmate receiving funds.  The remaining funds can be used by the inmate for commissary purchases or phone calls.

Bail Information:

Not all inmates are eligible for bail.  To find out if an inmate is eligible for bail, contact the jail at 205-926-9581.  At this number, you can find out if the inmate is bail eligible, the amount of the bail, any conditions placed on the bail, and how to post bail.

Generally, when posting bail you will need a photo ID.

For cash bail, you must have the exact cash amount.  You may be able to pay cash bail in other ways, but jails will not accept personal checks for cash bail.  To find out if you can use something other than cash to pay an inmate’s cash bail amount, call the jail to find out if it accepts: money orders, cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks, credit cards, or debit cards.  Generally, you can post full or partial bail.

If you are unable to post the full amount of an inmate’s bail, you may want to contact a bail bondsman for information on posting a surety bond.  A surety bond is actually a contract.  The person seeking the bond, which is not the person in jail, goes to a bail bondsman and pays a fee.  The bail bondsman then promises the court that the defendant will appear in court.  If the defendant does not appear in court, then the bondsman has to pay the full amount of the bond.  To secure this bond, the bondsman will generally require some type of security from the person who sought the bond, and, if the defendant cannot be located, will collect on that security.
